DROYLSDEN 3 – 1 HYDE Blue Square Bet North - Wednesday 25 August 2010 Report by Gary Owen Droylsden eventually ran out comfortable winners in this first Tameside derby of the season, but they were made to fight all the way by a resilient Hyde side, who were on top for large periods of the first half only to fail to turn their dominance into goals. Paul Phillips was called into action to save from Scott Mooney as the visitors took control. Hence, it was against the run of play when Droylsden's first real passing move paid dividends, with David McNiven slotting past Criag Mawson to open the scoring. Hyde continued to threaten after the break, with Lee Rick unlucky to see his effort hit the bar, but two goals in five minuets secured the points. Firstly, a superb cross by Luke Holden invited Ciaran Kilheeney to head past Mawson before another header, this time from Steve Halford, found the Hyde net off the boot of the unfortunate Andy Smart. In between those goals, however, Hyde continued to make a game of it when Steve Beck gifted the ball to the visitors, meaning Carols Logan was upended in the box and Smart converted the spot kick.
